Self Esteem/Confidence in Children: Resources

Welcome to my resource page for the topic of Self Esteem! Here is where you will find some great materials that I have outlined so you can experience the depth of this topic more fully.

Enjoy!

Books for Parents/Caregivers

  • The Yes Brain

    • Learn a brain-science-based way of building resilience and growth mindset in kids, without unnecessary jargon.

  • Kid confidence

  • Parent Talk

    • This is a book you can skim and pick up at any chapter and not feel left behind. Each chapter contains a strategy to responding to your child in a way that builds them up and encourages critical thinking, with very practical language to use (and examples!). I find this works for kids at any age.

Books for Children

  • I am enough

  • Bodies are Cool

    • This book is a great way to normalize the quirks of the human body. It is one of the most diverse books I’ve seen with bodies of all kinds, each one special and “cool”.

  • Believing in me

  • The You are Important series below:

    • These are for younger children (about 6 and younger). Books like these can be a great way to get your child thinking about the power they have and the special role they play in the family! There are more in this series than what is listed below.

  • I can do Hard Things

    • This book models positive affirmations and tapping into our inner power, and features a lovely, diverse range of characters. This is a great book to spark discussion, too. It is simple enough for littles, but deep enough to have a good conversation about, even with an adult!

  • Your Fantastic Elastic Brain

    • This is a good one for older children 7-12, and is a great introduction to growth mindset!
